My karate gave us a method to making smart goals. SMART (S-specifc M-measurable A-acheivable R-relevant T-timed).
Road to 100K
I started a stupid YouTube channel in May. Little did I know it would blow up over the summer and I would hit 14K in July.
- I will make time to edit videos. I will schedule 25-50 minute sessions to edit or record videos.
- I will brainstorm video ideas very often. Carry a notebook or use the notes app when I get an idea.
- Lock in without any distractions. Use focus blockers. Put my phone in a different room or drawer to avoid the urge to pick it up.
Offline Mode
I want to stop using my devices as often. I feel too addicted to them now and my screen time is through the roofs.
- Spend time in nature. Frequently go on walks or bike rides. Like a 15-minute walk after dinner or a bike ride around my neighborhood after waking up.
- Establish no-phone zones like the dinner table. For example, when I sit down my phone will stay in my pocket.
- When I do use devices, I will be more self-aware of how long I use them for.
Focus on Faith
I want to get closer to God this year.
- Read my Bible during free time. I will have it always have it present whenever I get the time to read it.
- Implement daily prayers, morning and night. Attach prayer before I eat, on the way to school, or before I go to bed.
- Discover a new verse and find out its deeper meaning every day. By using new apps, I can see the new verse every day by using my phone. It can serve as a reminder.
